2020 Heirloom Vineyards Adelaide Hills Pinot Grigio

Adelaide Hills Pinot Grigio

Vineyard: Cutting edge viticulture teamed with exceptional wine making has delivered a superb wine from the South Australian Adelaide Hills region.

Season: A challenging season to say the least with a good a start to the growing season followed by unseasonably cold conditions not allowing development of vine flowers to set good fruit. Once calculated, fruit bunches were expected to be reduced up to 60%. With the ongoing dry conditions a once in a lifetime fire season destroyed many vineyards across the Adelaide Hills region. Depending on vineyard location, the cool climate altitude with cool evening breezes, allowed the white and red grapes to ripen with good flavours and high acidity.

Wine making:  Whole bunches were carefully hand picked in the cool evenings and early mornings before small batches were gently pressed. Free run juice was captured and bottled without delay.

Appearance: Clear, to pale straw.

Aroma/Bouquet: Highlights of fresh pear, rock melon and spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg.

Palate: Clean, zingy and a bright palate is met with crisp acidity. Flavours of delicate minerals, royal gala apples and the freshest pear. A delightful crisp, dry white wine.

Food Pairing: Salt and pepper squid with pear and rocket salad, Chicken and mushroom risotto, Moroccan Tagines.
