Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir
Vineyard: The vineyard is hand managed and monitored to source the best Pinot Noir grapes from a private collection of first class vineyards.
Season: A challenging season to say the least with fruit production reduced by 20 to 50% due to a range of factors; wind effecting flowers, berry set and irregular rainfall. The spring growing season began well with good rains wetting the soil profile for a successful bud burst and positive sign of plenty of fruit bunches. The growing season was generally cool with a few extreme heatwaves to contend with in January-February. 2019 turned out to provide high quality wine grapes, with concentrated fruit in limited supply.
Wine making: Hand picked grape bunches were carefully sorted before bunches were pressed and in open fermenters. This followed to a gentle basket press and transferred to new French oak barriques.
Appearance: Medium purple red.
Aroma/Bouquet: Lifted blueberry, raspberry and superior aromatic freshness, explodes from your glass before a bouquet of forest floor and delicate lavender.
Palate: A lush palate gravitates to flavours of mountain berry fruits with steely acidity. Texture forms on the mid palate with tannin and tight acid. A crescendo of sweet berry fruits leave a savory and very long finish.
Food Pairing: Fresh baguette and lashings of pate, Slow cooked rack of lamb with seasonal vegetables.
