Vineyard: The Jellicoe vineyard is situated high in the Eden Valley region of the Barossa perched at 475 metres above sea level. Low-yielding, 30 year old Riesling vines are planted on lean, rocky yellow podzolic soils typical to the terrior of the region. The cool climate perfectly accentuates the classic Riesling aromas and flavours that have made the Eden Valley world famous.
Season: Exceptional quality was achieved from the 2019 vintage but extremely limited quantities produced; due to the lower than average rainfall recordings. Frost disrupted the first vine buds in spring and throughout flowering which again reduced overall wine grape supply. The dry ripening season through summer kept disease pressure to a minimum and cooler high country breezes allowed the grapes to ripen for a vintage of premium quality.

Vineyard: The vineyard was planted in the early 1920's and is renowned for delivering excellent Riesling fruit. Old vines still need meticulous attention which most requirements are done so by hand management. Dry grown outside the town of Springton on the southern end of the Eden Valley wine region.
Season: The adverse weather conditions during the 2011 were challenging to say the least. A season not typical within the Barossa and a long cool and wet ripening. However, viticulture skills were put to a test this year and delivered some exceptional results within the Eden Valley region of the Barossa - The high country.
If terroir consisted of sandy loam, shale and rocky outcrops over the red clay, than the skills of delivering a quality parcel of wine grapes was all up to the management, that's viticulture of course!
