Barossa - Eden Valley Riesling
Vineyard: Colin Kroehn tended his Eden Valley Riesling for 66 years. The Wonderland of the Eden Valley is made entirely from his vineyard which was planted in 1912 and thrives to this day.
Season: Spring was dry and led into a very mild, dry summer with no disease, resulting in fruit with higher natural acidity, and incredible flavour and colour concentration. January started with dry, hot and windy weather however by the end of the first week, relief came with 60-75mm of rain and a record-breaking coolest January in 11 years. The rain was perfectly timed for the old dry-grown vineyards, and the mild weather that followed from February through to April provided for a fairytale vintage.
Winemaking: Whole bunches were handpicked on the 13th of March then de-stemmed in small batches without crushing the fruit to fill our press exactly. The free run juice was then fermented in small tanks between 11 and 14 degrees Celsius. This Wonderland of the Eden Valley Riesling was bottled directly without fining or filtration to capture the essence of the vineyard
Appearance: Pristine pale-straw with striking fluorescent green tinges around the rim edge.
Aroma/Bouquet: Scented aroma of glittering, glimmering, glistening purity, poise and incandescence; Flinty mineral notes with fine citrus elegance of lime blossom and honey suckle flowers intensify. It is as pure as it is invigorating.
Palate: An extraordinarily precise and clean citrus fruit spectrum - mandarin, bergamot, lemon, pomelo and lime. Essence of mandarin is underscored by a lilting harmony of stone-fruits, before searing, speeding, linear acidity escort lemon-meringue flavours to the palate’s long finish.
Food Pairing: Either immediately as an aperitif, or with anything from classic carbonara, risotto to seriously spicy infused curries. With bottle age richer, redolent with a rye toast, caraway and custard bouquet.
Acidity: 7.3 g/L
Residual Sugar: NA
Cellar potential: 20+ years

Barossa - Eden Valley Shiraz
Vineyard: Eden Hall vineyard is situated on the estate site of Avon Brae at an altitude of 450m. Springton Shiraz is selected from parcels of Shiraz fruit to showcase the vineyard site. The vineyard rows are established north to south to maximise quality for best vineyard management. Terroir is resting over fractured rock and sandy loam on a deep clay base.
Season: A dry start to the vintage growing season with expected cooler evenings and seasonal late frosts. Due to the site elevation and vineyard establishment, little frost settled on the grape vines. A warm start to the summer season ensured a strong and healthy canopy structure. Along with warm weather, rain arrived and was higher than expected throughout January and February. The Shiraz grapes were noted for deep colour and flavour intensity.
Wine making: NA
Appearance: Deep crimson-red.
Aroma/Bouquet: Savoury spice, blackberries and black pepper on the nose.
Palate: Concentrated berry fruits and lifted ripe plums with prunes give way to fine, dusty tannin and black cherry. Cured meats are intertwined with an array of berries leading to a smooth, luscious and fruity - medium bodied.
Food Pairing: Home made beef and mushroom pie, infused truffle egg and eggplant tart or a selection of mature soft cheese.
Residual Sugar: 1.21 g/L
Production: 1983 dozen (750ml)
Cellar potential: 10+ years

Barossa - Eden Valley Shiraz
Vineyard: Situated in the northern end of Eden Valley is the family owned and operated vineyard of Garden & Field. The site is spectacular which takes in a landscape of rolling hills with vineyards dotted in the distance. Planted on own roots and established as a non- irrigated site, with a southerly aspect. Elevation of 390m consisting of ancient volcanic soil, red brown earth, ironstone, quartz and schist rock lay over clay & limestone.
The Shiraz grapes were not affected by this due to no irrigation established on site and allowed the Shiraz grapes to ripen with full colour and flavour intensity.
Wine making: Hand-picked Shiraz was gently basket pressed on site with a small amount of bunches with berries to ferment on skins for 4-6 weeks until fermented dry. Traditional handmade and tended, reminiscent of yesteryear before maturing in seasoned French oak for 22 months. When bottled the wine was cellared to rest for a further six months prior to release.
Appearance: Deep crimson brick red with purple hue
Aroma/Bouquet: Aromas of black cherry, mocha and exotic spices with concentrated depth.
Palate: French oak dances around the elegant red and blue berries with dark chocolate and espresso coffee notes, finishing with layers of concentrated fruit, spice and savory integrated tannin.
Food Pairing: Wagyu Beef, slow cooked Beef cheeks with root vegetables or dark chocolate Raspberry tart.
Residual Sugar: NA
Production: 35 dozen (750ml)
Cellar potential: now - 2040+
